I am the world's worse tournament fisherman. Saturday marked my third consecutive tourney where the weigh-in bag got to stay in the boat.

This one was more frustrating than most because I had a established a pattern earlier in the week. I caught measurable fish before the tourney and caught decent fish after the 11:00 am weigh-in.

I do not feel any added pressure during the tourney, and don't feel anymore relaxed afterwards. (If it was stressful, I wouldn't do it)

hang in there cass, God knows i have been there several times. my wife hates talking to me after a tough tournament because of how negative i am, i threaten to sell every bit of fishing equipment i own and take up golf. there is a casino that i pass on the way home from grand lake where i fish a lot of tournies, there have been several times i wanted to pull up to the front door and give them the keys to my boat with everything in it and put it all on one game of black jack lol. i don't know what makes fish bite like crazy while we pre-fish and then disapear on tournament days but that's how it goes a lot of the time. just stay after it and work hard at trying to form a back up pattern if at all possible, and focus a lot on being able to adapt when patterns aren't working out. the fish usually don't go far but their moods change and they can be tricky to figure out, so knowing where they went and how to approach them is just as important as knowing why they left.

Damm guys! You're makin me not want to get in a tournament! actually, once I get a real boat, I can't wait to get in a tournament. Win? Lose? 1st time out, I could care less! But I know I'll go through what you guys are talkin about. You know what though? There's 2 things that failure just means get back at it. Bass tourneys and knockin someone up. Just don't tell 'em you've been neutered

This bring to mind a question I've often wondered about. Could it be that all the activity during the tournament affect how skiddish the fish get? Depending on the size ot the tourny, there's possibly a ton of boats hitting the water that normally wouldn't be there. And I know the sonar from fish finder isn't suppose to affect the bite, but when you have that many sending out sonar during the same time, could the increase affect them?

Just wondering, I'm not a tournament fisherman.

ya got to pay to play.. fish hard enough, long enough in tourny's and you'll figure out what it takes to win..back seating sucks but you'll learn boat control, lure presention..all ya got to do is open your eyes..the one rule is don't fish your boaters spots.-this will piss off alot of guys-

only marylinmason over der can use bass fishing and knockin some one up in the same sentence.-he definatly needs to go fishing..

So you're saying when we stop at a spot, pulling out my GPS and marking it right there isn't a good idea?

I would say that it depends on the relationship with the boater and non boater. But, no matter what the relationship taking another boater there for the next tourney is never good.

Oh...in a tourney, I agree. However, if some other boater takes you to the same spot, what are you gonna tell him? We can't fish here? LOL

If I was a back-seater and my boater took me to a spot I fish regularly, I'm not going to stop fishing it when I'm on my own. If he feels like he owns it now because he fished it with you, well, I guess that's one of those things he'll just have to live with.

It's all moot though...nobody's ever going to ask me to do a tourney. haha.
