Default Good day on the water

Me and my son got out again sunday for a little while. We went to Monticello. Air temp in the 50's water temp 52. Fished for a minute by a pond levee in 8-10 ft of water no bites, my son suggests we move to the back of the cove where there is some standing timber but the water is only 5 ft deep. I told him there is no way their that shallow yet especally with the cold front.

To please the boy we went back there, and found a submerged beaver dam. 1st cast by a tree near the base of the dam, BAM a 5 pounder, Next cast by the same tree I feel a tug on my jig, set the hook and caught a 8lb 24 incher. A few casts later yields a 7 pounder all by the same beaver dam.
I should note that after the second fish I gave my son the exact jig I was using and let him have first shots at the good holes, It just wasnt in the cards for him.

We finished the day fishing beaver dams in 5 ft of water and managed 1 more 5 pounder. Only 4 fish but not a bad day in my book.

Srry, no pics left the camera at home (one sure fire way to make sure you catch some hogs.)
