Yea lost my mind for sure.. I bought Treat swim baits from Kamakazee and these 4 buck each soft baits look good. Here comes the rub...they are hollow and if you put a jighead in them you pop the hollow part. If you use a big hook you pop the hollow part. I would like to tube a treble thru it with a bullet weight. But I will need to test it this weekend on my shakeout.



Anybody try my idea.

I've been rigging Basstrix paddle tail tubes like that for a while now. You hook everything that bites and the baits last alot longer than they do when you use a big weighted hook. It's a great way to rig for open water fishing, not so great in heavy cover though.

Gonna use a coffee stirrer or one of those straws that come with spray oil..

Red would look good and a touch of glue to seal it..

If you're worried about popping it, than I head from Al Lineards (I think that how you spell it) that a good way to rig them is to hook them like a drop hot, just nose hook it! If you want it to be weedless, than use a hook with a weed guard!

Sounds Pretty similar to the way I've done it. It works for sure!



I cut a slit in the belly, push in a 3/16oz weight, then put a piece of surgical tubing (the kind we use to keep trailer hooks in place) in the belly slot, and secure it with a drop of Pro's Soft Bait Glue. Then I just run the line through and tie on a treble. It's great cause when you hook a fish, the bait slides up the line easily rather than getting mashed up on the hook. I can catch over 10 fish on one bait before it's too messed up to use.

Ok today I tred it several ways. The straw from a spray oil can was to small and the coffee stirrer just melt right away when glued. I tested the glue on the stirrer before inserting.. Smart move as it would have messed up a swim bait. Then I spied some red wire on the bench and used the insulation. Removed the wire with some wire strippers and it was perfect. Glue set real good. Next down to dock to test it.. Perfect action and I have a winner.

Braided line was a little tough to feed thru so used the copper wire to feed it thru. HMM..

Re-rigged with a flouro leader of about two feet so I can change bullet weights quickly.

So I rigged three up with leaders ready to go..

Water temps are still very cold.
