Default question for texan's

I am from Iowa. My girlfriend and I will be in Texas the last week of July. I have contacted a guide to take us bass fishing for a half day trip instead of a full day due to the heat and my girlfriend does not fish that much. My question is how is the bite down there in late July? Will the heat have them shut down? A half day trip is 200 dollars a full day trip is 300, if the bite is good enough i want to try for 2 half day trips or maybe see if she would be willing to go on a full day trip.....(saving me a little money lol). The half day trip is a morning trip. Any info would be greatly apprecitated.

Truthfully, you couldn't have picked a worse time if you'd tried. At that time of year, I'd try for a night-fishing trip, on the right moon phase, with a guide experienced in that sort of thing.
Of course the GF might not be too enthusiastic about it all. Still, she's better off at night than broiling in the Texas sun.
Sorry to be a drag, but July is not the best time for Texas bassin'.
Good luck anyway! Prove me wrong!

Thanks flyrod, and dangit! I dont have much experience night fishing, but will look into it.....see what the guide thinks. I have to tell ya, I sure hope to prove you wrong .......There arent to many chances for giant bass here in Iowa.

qc i am used to the heat down here and i thought i was going to have a heat stroke saturday. so if you go take lots of water, because it can be brutal on texas lakes during late july and august.

qc, since you are only doing a half day you ought to be fine-the heat will be bearable during the morning hours. Ray Roberts is a great lake-haven't fished it in a couple of years but there are real good fish in it.
