I think a really good material, while not exactly peanuts-cheap, is aluminum skinned plywood. It is sometimes sold as "sign board." The top skin of aluminum (usually about 0.040" thick) makes a nice durable walking surface that is easy to glue non-skid to. The bottom skin will really help make the deck more rigid. But you still need to make sure you have adequate supports for the deck.

How big is the starcraft? The spook is a 14', I can tell you what you need to know...

If its 14', and you weigh 300, you're already looking pretty heavy. I weight 175 and have a full front deck and console and my problem is the weight. For all the world I wish I had the 16'.
