Default Smallie Cranks

As a smallie fisherman I have been working on a couple new baits that have been working very well in my local rivers. The first is a 2 1/2" crank with a soft plastic tail and the others are 2" wide wobble flat siders. The making of the plastic tails has been a real problem since so far I have been melting some worms to pour. The first baits I tried using vinyl tails and they came through the water like a #2 pencil, no action at all, the tail acted like a rudder but with the addition of the soft tail and a little wider lip they look great in the water.

Not bad looking, very nice actually. Is the tail replaceable, being it's gonna get torn up?

Lizards, yes the tail is replaceable. It does not show in the picture but from the top it looks like a key hole that the tail slips into. I thought about doing it like a lot of swimbaits and just glue it in with super glue but the keyhole slot works very well.

Is there just one treble hook on the bait with the tail? I only see one ring.

Looks like it, sacrifice must be made to add the tail haha. Good looking cranks though.

You are right 1 treble on that bait, just use a #4 instead if 2 #6. One treble is not what I call a disadvantage on a bait less than 3" long, on 1/2oz rattle traps I always remove the rear treble and reolace the lower hook with a 1/0 most of the lost fish with traps troblem will be solved.
