Boat and trailer

Hello

If you are out with your boat and trailer and you are on your way home after a day on the water. And you are get high winds what is the best way to get home. Just keep going.Or stop and wait it out on the side of the road.

If the winds are too high, there is no shame in pulling over and waiting. Especially if its a storm and likely to blow over. I always tow in the right lane as well, if its divided, and I have been known to go very slow.

No sense in risking your boat and trailer. I would also pull over and wait it out. By the way, welcome to the boards!

Here's the acid test with any questionable, to you, situation. Ask yourself..."When the accident report is filled out, is it going to be favorable or unfavorable toward me?" If the answer is "unfavorable", even if its just "maybe", don't do it. This has worked for me for years.

I agree with the others-if it is bad, there is nothing wrong with pulling over. If it is not going to stop, the slower the better.

If it's just little bad, you wanna slow down and don't be afraid to use the headlights, fog lights and 4-way flashers. If it's real bad, you wanna get off the road...on the roadside your on may be okay unless you can't get totally off the roadway OR it's a busy road/highway....in which case, you need to get off onto a quiet side road or parking lot to wait out the storm.

if YOU think it is too windy, pull over and wait awhile. and if YOU think it is raining too hard, pull over for awhile. no one here can really make that desicion for you my friend. it is YOUR boat. not wanting to sound mean or nothing either. ok? ALWAYS turn on headlights. and if i am towing in the rain (especially if it is REALLY raining hard, or REAL windy) i have my headlights on and flashers at times.

I've been thinking about this question, and it made me wonder:

Has anybody had this problem where the boat on the trailer is bothered by the wind?

I've driven through some windy conditions and so far there hasn't been a problem that I recognized. I can understand it for high profile vehicle like an 18 wheeler or RV, but not a low profile bass boat.

That said, I'm sure not going to say it can't/won't happen.

We had a little problem with a pontoon once, but we just slowed down.
We never had a problem pulling our bassboat.

rebb you have opened up a question i have on this matter now that i think a little more on it. i am wondering if the trailer is the one made for the said boat? if it isn't, then that might be the problem when towing.
