Default Charger Problem ??

I got home from a tourney today and hooked up my charger , and it says charged on both batterys. I know this is impossible , as I fished a 10hp limit and had to use my troller for 8 hours. Is it a charger problem or a bad battery ? Its just a portable schumacher wally word jobby...

Clint, get yourself a meter and check your voltage. Only way to be sure. However, yes, it does sound like your charger is a little screwy.

Ten four. I will check that soon. I noticed the other day it said charged and I thought that was funny , usually after a couple of weeks it would charge some..

So when you hook it up and plug it in, the green light indicates is charged?
My Schumacher Ship 'n Shore 15A charger has both percentage and volt read-outs. Does your's?
What does it report for each?

CMorg,

I have the same wally world charger. I have found that mine will give a false charge report if I have it plugged into main power before connecting it to the battery. If I unplug it from house power before connecting, this hasn't been an issue.

Oh yea, forgot about that - it's important to hook to the battery, then plug it in.

Check the votalge on the batteries. If they are below 10 volts some chargers will see them as a bad battery and either give you a fully charged light or bad battery light depending on your charger. I ran into the same issue with mine.

Yep, on the wish list... but it's quite a list.

Abbey, I'd put it at the top of the list. I plug it in when I get home, unplug it when I'm heading out. Literally set it and forget it. Definitely worth every penny.

I know, but I gotta get the gas gauge (sending unit) fixed, need to get/mount some rod holders, would like a downrigger or two....a bimini top would be nice, on board charger, electronics upgrade....

Definition of a boat: a hole in the water you throw money into!

Would you know about how old that wal-mart charger is?? My older one acts up sometimes, says bad battery or fully charged after a day of fishing I can unplug it wait a few and plug it back in and it's fine. (Mine is 4 years old, and is used weekly)

Mine was about 3 years old. Problem is , I think maybe I do have a battery issue. The new one I plugged up to a battery last night. Today , it says " Bad Bat " The window on the battery says its fine. Green I believe , not Red. What gives ??

So what happens when you hook it up to another battery (or two). Just maybe you do have a battery issue if the charger works fine with other batteries?

The first charger always said charged on any battery I put it on. The new charger ran all night and day today in my new portable shed that gets about 150 degrees inside during the day. And today it said Bad Bat , I unhooked while I mowed , then hooked it back up and it says battery full.

I'd find another place to charge - the PC inside the charger, like all electronic devices isn't gonna perform well in high temperatures.
