Talking 18.5 lb stringer 5 fish *pics*

Got on the water at about 8 o clock this mornin and instead of crankin up and runnin the length of the lake like most anglers choose to do, we dropped the 'ol troller down and went at it. fished about 100 yards of the bank (black and blue sb with a worm trailor and double colorado blades) and came to some grass with a little structure on it. threw it to the back and rolled it about 10 yards away from the boat...STRIKE!!! right beside a log. forgot the net in the car so i horsed this 3.5 lb spot in and swung him into the boat, first fish of the day!

5 minutes later sharpe hooked one off the edge of a grass bed right when it hit the water... it stayed down deep until right when it got to the boat and once again with no net he swung it up into the boat. NICE FISH!!!

I didnt catch anymore but he did catch 3 more later as the day went on... 4lb spot and 3.5 lb spot and a small 12 incher

great day to be on the water even though the wind was kickin!!!

check the pics out and tell me how our day went!!!

Oh well, good day either way. The river has some bass in it, I used to put in off jack warner and go up to the dam a lot.

Lol, we were neigbors. I lived on 8th ave right past riverview, before you get to the credit union - literally about 500 feet from you if that. I used to jog through the woods to the ramp.

Maybe A-day weekend I will be back. It'd be nice to meet some of yall.

PS, I know I'm close. I know which ramp you loaded at from the last pics as well. Haha. You are doing good there.

What, did you think I spent 7 years in tuscaloosa going to class! Haha, not me. Orientation weekend at Bama for me was spent at lake nicol.

Actually judging from the pics, you might outfish me. I never did that well at the place we are talking about. Did that well on the river below the dam though. Stripers too. I'll see if I can find some pics from old threads.

Caught more numbers at nicol than size. Did "guide" a fellow who stayed at the hampton I worked at one day and he got a hawg. Heres a pic.

haha i know what ya mean!!!sharpe hooked up with one stripe got it on its side right at the boat, and since we still had NO NET when i started to reach for it, it made the most subtle movement and the bait hit him in the arm.. probably about an 8 or 10 lb one too it was nice,we were actually right by the top of the dam, same lake.. did you ever do any good at nichol?

The ramp we were talking about right by those apartments, looking towards Mcfarland Bridge over the warrior.

You mean north river?

Wait, which dam? Holt or the spillway at Oliver. Either way, the answer is yes. I've pretty much covered that small stretch of river.

It is. Never done that much good in there, which is odd considering I used to do real well at the tailwaters of lake nicol on harris lake.

But lake Tuscaloosa is so deep at the dam, I think over 100' if I recall, that the water coming out is cooler and clearer than the norm for that part of the river. I did hear that somebody once upon a time caught a trout right there, who knows how it got in there.
