Shaft on trolling motor?

I am getting a 1997 hydrasport, 20 footer. I am going to be upgrading the trolling motor and I found a deal somewhere but the shaft is 60 inches. My question is will the 60 inch be too big? Thanks

Will it work? Yes. Will it look very strange? Yes again. Those 60" shafts are usually for deep, multi-species boats, or heck, even a pontoon boat, I guess.

Most bass boat shafts are between 40" and 45".

I suppose you could fabricate yourself a snack tray to put on top of it when you get hungry.

Actually it'll be just fine. If you look at a lot of 20' bass boats they have 52" TM's on them. I've heard a lot of guys that fish big water actually prefer the longer shafts as it has a better chance of staying in water in big waves.

To shorten the shaft it can be done by sawing it but gotta watch for the wires!

Why don't you just adjust it . Most can be raised and lowered.

I know it can be adjusted but it may look really stupid. I ordered it and if it is two long i will have it cut. It was on sale 1200 dollar trolling motor for 600. Too great of a deal
