A couple of questions...
If the box is unopened...how can you tell the bracket is bent? You should also mention that Lowrance will not warranty this product, as the buyer will not be the "first retail customer". I see this same product available from authorized dealers, new with 2-year warranty for $2200ish. Any buyer should consider the lack of warranty on a unit that has obviously seen some rough treatment for a savings of $225.

The unit was purchased locally at Bass Pro. It was discounted due to the box being damaged and mounting bracket being bent. I planned to keep it, but due to some recent unforseen issues I'm now trying to sell it.
It is a brand new unit and all manuals, components, etc. are still in original packagining (unopened/shrink wrapped). I have not personally checked with Lowrance regarding the warranty. Simply wanted to sell the unit and thought someone may be interested in saving a couple hundred dollars. |

Only the ones that cannot afford it or have no intention or interest in buying it will give you a hard time.

You might consider returning it to bass pro, suspect they would warranty it for you as the purchaser but not to anyone you sold it to,it is hard to shell out basically 2 k go down the lake 5 times and have it quit because it took a lick in the box.
Because the warranty isnt transferable they generally bring 60-70 percent of value even if never hooked up be they low or bird.If however you were a retailer and offered a 250 discount be out the door fairly quick at 250 off as with receipt one can get a warranty. Person to person its a lot different,if you have the receipt never entered it into your name in an acct online then offer it with the unit may fly. |

Sometimes I just don't understand where the heck you're comming from. Who, exactly, are you looking down your nose at? IMO, which I admit accounts for very little, I veiw the expressed concerns as valid. The OP is brand new, offering obviously damaged goods - how damaged, who really knows - with no guarantee or warranty. Would you be willing to vouch for this individual? Sending $2K to someone for a "pig in a poke" so-to-speak, is a leap of faith I am not willing to take. If he were a regular, or known to someone who is and has established his credibility, that may be another story. I'm not saying this is an attempted scam, but it's not a risk I would be willing to assume. That is obviously the opinion of some others also that are not as trusting as you, Vegas, obviously would be. If it's legit, then I wish him luck with the sale, but it would be better to do so locally, face-to-face where any issues can be resolved in the same manner. He's still mad because I called him out on posting fake, super-short sales for expensive items he had no intention of selling, so he could show them off.
I think he's donated the same boat to about eleven different college bass fishing teams. The funny thing is...I most certainly can afford it.

Easy Bruce, he probably want to buy your Triton and other fishing stuff you may have for sale in the near future and donate it to some college fishing team that doesn't exist!!!

Actually it was nice to hear a favorite old Appalachian quote -pig in a poke, only thing better is a spotted one.
Personal thought only sorta belongs on craigslist, where someone can drop by,view and make an offer id refrain from the damaged part, one on ebay last night bid was at 1400 or so,so some people will take chances other wise casinos wouldnt be in business. Another purely personal observation id rather place 2k on red number 16,odds are about the same of coming up with a real winner. And yes have 2k just dont spend it on used electronics, buy mine for 52 bucks off ebay quad beams that still have plastic over the screen.Wide portrait etc. For just over 2k would sell you a 17 1/2 ft boat with a 150 hp outboard boat doesnt leak and outboard most likly be running years from now,no electronics or trolling motor, very good condition trailer under it. |

I think I've been pretty forthright about the condition of the unit. I've posted pictures and included in the description the facts surrounding the unit. I'm not trying to scam anyone, simply listed this for sale on a site that fisherman frequent vs. just putting it up on an auction site.
I spoke to Lowrance this morning and the unit will have a full warranty from date of purchase (5/31/12). If someone is interested in the unit contact me directly. I'm more than willing to supply the original receipt so there should be no issues with the warranty. As I've stated, I originally intended to keep the unit for myself, but have had some personal issues that have come up. Being in the right place at the right time I got a good deal on the unit. Would like to try to sell it. For those concerned here is a picture of the mounting bracket. If you don't mind esthetics it could probably just be pounded out to work. I personally would pay the money and get a new bracket. |

Cblaine, I did not mean to imply you were scamming anyone.
However, as a member who at the time only had one post to your credit, I merely wanted to offer my input to anyone who might be thinking of purchasing your item. As much as we fight on this site, we still try to look out for each other to some degree (with a few notable exceptions). As another said, if you were a long time member, it might possibly been addressed in a different manner. If you have the original receipt to give to the buyer, and it doesn't have your name on it or anything, then there is a good chance Lowrance wouldn't know who the original buyer is. Then at least the buyer could have the relative protection of a warranty.

Spineless
If your going to call out a new guy selling a high ticket item I guess I get that, but at least say that to them and don’t beat around the bush. Besides who in the hell assigned you guys as moderators? All this site if is for selling product anyhow. Sounds like the guy is sincere and the warranty issue is covered, so now big guy it if that was your only problem buy it! Or did you think the rest of the people could not think of that on their own and would address it as part of buying it. Besides the two items I listed that I did donate after a week or so sold to other forum members so your back yard logic has a few flaws in it. One item and only one was a boat and the other was gear. I donate more in a year than you could imagine and it is much appreciated by those who not receive it but appreciate it and some fat jerk ain’t gonna take that from me. I can only laugh and shake my head at you guys, would you like to see the certificates of donations and tax returns? I can prove I did what I said – can you prove I did not? Or do you have problems with people that give? If giving is showing off – call me a showoff then!!!!! |

I agree with you 100%
I am not looking down my nose at anybody. Besides my nose is too big and my eyes are too bad to see that far... I am just trying to make a point, be direct with someone and say what your fears are about buying it. Throwing the guy under the bus because maybe just maybe someone got ripped off years ago etc. This guys seems straight up and to accuse him of trying to take advantage of someone is just not the way you welcome someone. Some people like to buy items this way and others don’t, so why rip up his posting. That is why I am quick on items like that. You may or may not have noticed I don’t frequent this site on a daily basis and sometimes it is a month or two in between visits, and it is always the same ole people saying the same old self appointed things about every little thing. Not all post need to be analyzed to death for peat sakes. You might be right maybe I will just let everyone keep running everyone off and this site will stay the same small site it has always been. You do not see this stuff on a regular basis on the bigger sites.

If all you see is the "same ole people saying the same old self appointed things," then you've got blinders on. There's a ton of great people on here. I could name probably a dozen people off the top of my head that if they needed me to, I would drop everything and drive straight to their house ASAP, distance not withstanding. And I can name almost as many that I believe would do the same for me. I know a lot of people on here by their first names, I have their cell phone numbers, addresses, I've fished out of their boats, shared cabins with them, seen pictures of their kids, sent my condolences when they've had losses in the family, and congratulations when they've had good news. So if all you see is the bad stuff, I think the problem is you, not the rest of the site. Most of what I see from you is contempt and arrogance. "Only the ones that cannot afford it or have no intention or interest in buying it will give you a hard time." Wrong....those who are concerned for others will give you a hard time. But according to you, we're all jerks and are trying to run off somebody. I see the posts leading up to this, especially NoFear's and BoogieMan's, as saying, "Hey, here's something else to consider that you might not have thought of, so anyone thinking about buying this might need to check this out first." You see them as saying, "Hey, this guy is trying to defraud everybody on this site, and needs to be tarred, feathered, and run out of here on a rail." That's the way you see those posts, but no one else does. I agree about the new guy here....he does seem to be honest and aboveboard, especially after checking back on here a couple of times and addressing the concerns that have been expressed about it. But I appreciate the fact that NoFear and others cared enough about other people on here to speak up and clarify things. Also, there are no moderators, because this site pretty much moderates itself. When someone gets out of line with the way this board operates, the members correct that person. In case that wasn't obvious enough, this is me doing exactly that. I never had a high option of you, then when you posted that completely inappropriate picture of a dead parrot and a frying pan on another thread a while back, my opinion of you dropped off the face of the earth. Guess what? It's even lower now, and I wasn't sure that was possible. I don't care how many donations you say you made, or what else you've done that I have no knowledge of. You are a small, hateful person, and I believe that it would be better for you and all of us if you would just leave.

Vegas, you admittedly aren't here very often, sometimes months between visits and yet nearly every time there is drama here, you are involved. The common denominator is YOU. I know you are too arrogant to realize that but you are the problem. You don't have anything useful to offer, fishing wise and never have. You aren't here often enough to post your opinions on the "politics" of this site, yet you continue to do so. Who do you think you are? Go away and don't come back. No one wants you here and you obviously don't want to be here. Take your ego and pollute one of the "big" sites that you seem to like so much. We are through with you and your high opinion of yourself. Go away and don't come back.

Okay, simple question for the OP, if you have the receipt and it's all original and un-opened (except to take pictures) why didn't you just take it back to Bass Pro? Did you buy it as an "as is, not returnable"???
To me that just seems a little odd considering you said, "As I've stated, I originally intended to keep the unit for myself, but have had some personal issues that have come up. Being in the right place at the right time I got a good deal on the unit. Would like to try to sell it." So you got a good deal on it and now you are selling it damaged for $225 less then new? To me, that just seems a little odd. But good luck, I love my HDS unit. |

I already mentioned it would be a good idea to take it back, like your thoughts might not have been an option since damaged dunno. He did check back in think he is legit just going to have hard time selling it anywhere,in this economy for just 250 under what a new one is.
On sale later will be that low or lower. Wish him luck, but think if he could return it be better off. And yeah I sounded off first,so im guilty-bill me |

Somehow I missed this thread. There are some members here that don't like me at all. There are times when I can be unlikeable. There are some members here that I don't like. I sometimes grow weary of poor grammer and sloppy spelling. I have never really cared for pretense and pomp. I sometimes want to tell some members to stop asking petty redundant questions and just go fishing. I sometimes reread some of my posts after the edit window has expired and feel remorse.
In the case of Vegas I must agree with the general consensus. Maybe just maybe though he's the kind of guy that once you get to know him in real life he turns out to be a great person and worthy to be called a friend. But since this is by and large a cyber group (neighbors and get-together events notwithstanding) I will not lament his passing.
