fluorocarbon
I want to do some dropshotting and other finesse tactics next year so i want to try flouro but i'm not sure because last time i tried it a few years ago it had too much memory and kept getting tangled. So know what kind of flourocarbon should i be using and will it work on a spinning reel?
Thanks |

My favorite of recently is Seaguar. It sure isn't cheap but I use it for my flipping/pithcing setup and haven't had any problems yet!

I used BPS 8 lb on my DS rod and pflueger spinning reel. I didn't change the line at all this year, but it was getting pretty bad right at the end (lots of twist at the tip). I also used KVD line and lure conditioner.

travis you said that it works for flipping so will it still be flexible and invisible enough for finesse tactics in gin clear water?

I believe so. This line is the limpest I have ever used! It glows a nice color if it is held in the right light. I think it's worth the price...
I'm sure a smaller diameter of this line would be perfect for DS |

I use Berkley 100% Professional Grade, but the only other kind I have tried was P-Line, which I hated. I have not had a problem with the Berkley yet and I been using it all year. As long as you give the first 50 or so feet a good stretch in the backyard, either Seguar or Berkley should work great.

the only flourocarbon line i use is seaguar............carbon pro for flipping and pitching and invizx for everything else. i have it on my dropshot/grub swimming rods which are spinning reels and haven't had any problems. use kvd line and lure conditioner and watch kevins video on spooling a spinning reel. those two tips will get rid of a lot of problems right off the bat.

Should i use this as my main and then buy some more for tying rigs or just put some mono behind the the flourocarbon so that I have enough left over? The one thing that makes me hesitant to have some mono backing is that i have heard that fluorocarbon breaks easily or is this a lie?

I've tried 3 or 4 fluoros and I like Seaguar the best. For my dropshotting I use Fireline mainline with a fluoro leader, but I think I'm gonna be switching to all fluoro come spring.
Also, I'd suggest KVD's Line and Lure. I was never a believer in it until I tried it. Works great to make the line more limp and managable. BB

Seaguar InvizX.
I'm gonna try their new AbrazX to see how I like it.

My Drop Shot setup is spooled with 10 lb Power Pro Braid, then I tie on a 6 or 8 lb mono leader that I tie the complete drop shot rig with. No need for any swivels as there is no line twist issues. You can fish this setup deep or shallow and either way get a solid, consistent hook set. Just make sure that you leave a min of 18 inches from the hook to the knot joining the mainline braid.

I gotta say , I used Seaguar Invizx , and hated it , too much line memory for me. I like berkley professional , and Vicious. No where near the memory.

I hate Berkley and all their plastic baits.

Since we're getting of topic here, I figure a little push won't hurt. As for line, I hate Berkley, but I use mostly powerbait plastics. So they're not all bad.

For drop shotting make sure to use a light enough rod and a light line, I like 6# P-Line Halo or InvizX. The Halo seemed to last a little longer and not nick quite as easily, but I had a tiny bit more twist with it. I might try Sunline next year, but not sure yet.
Just make sure your knot is very good; no loops, wet it, and draw it tight slowly. |

C-Rig , I dont know either. I got 15 pound , and alot of times the heavier line tends to have more memory to it , I got it last year from BPS. I think I still have some of it somewhere , I replace line this time of year on all my rods , so I get to try differant brands out. Who knows , you may be right.

I use XPS Fluoro as well. Invisx is my second choice.
