Default Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine and Sam Rayburn

Mattern Guide Service

Hello Everybody,

Isaiah 45: Verses 2&3: I will go before thee, and make the crooked places straight: I will break in pieces gates of brass, and cut in sunder the bars of iron:
And I will give thee treasures of darkness and hidden riches of secret places, that thou mayest know that I, the Lord, which call thee by name, am the God of Israel.

LAKE PALESTINE:

The bite had been best from daylight till noon: Morning bite is great with Bass up to about 5.5 lbs hitting Nichols poppers in shad patterns around grass and banks. Good Bass have also been caught on Nichols 3/8 ounce double willow leaf, gold back and nickel front blades in white/chartruse combos around vegetation and flooded grasses.

Plastics that have been working is Nichols salty mother sinker in watermelon candy rigged texas weightless or wacky also white flukes rigged the same caught Bass over 5 lbs. Once it gets hot head to the boat docks and work the deeper docks with texas rigged nichols creature baits in watermelon red or watermelon candy. Junebug is also a good color. Water temps are at daylight 85 up to 90\\\'s by noon. Take plenty of cold drinks and sunscreen up real good to protect your skin.

Sam Rayburn:

Water temps were 86 at daylight and up to 90 by noon. Morning bite was most active with Bass feeding on shad and Bream. It has been a tough bite with Bass heavy pressure from tournaments hiding in peppergrass in about 6-8 feet. Bigger Bass are hiding out right now but some good cloudy days could turn them on again. 15 bites a day is the norm with tournament strings only in the 15 lb. range for 1st place.

Plastics have been best lately with Phantom stinko\\\'s in watermelom red rigged Texas or wacky style catching good Bass. Jigs worked through this same grass or in 12-14 feet hydrilla has been producing but you gotta pitch alot of pitches to get bit. Good colors are Black and Blue and camoflage with craw trailers in the same patterns.

Carolina rigs are taking their share of Bass as well but still the bite has been tough. Keys spots in 12 -17 feet will produce a few bites. Good Plastics are the lizards, flukes, frenchfries, twin tail grubs. All in watermelon colors or green pumpkin.

Remeber my sponsors: Their product helps me put checks in the boat almost every month on the tournament trails. Another new sponsor is Kistler rods. I have been using a spinnerbait rod from Kistler for the last 2 months and it has helped me get about 7 checks in the tournament trails. I am still pushing hard for those number 1 finishes but I will take a check in any tournament trail.

I just got back from a missionary trip to El Salvador and watched Jesus touch hundreds by His Holy Spirit as I ministered the good news about the Love of God shed abroad through the cross of Jesus. Now that was some awesome fishing.

Thanks again and If you would like to book a trip to Lake Palestine or Sam Rayburn give me a call at 903-478-2633 or 903-724-1203
