Humminbird Ticking Noise
I have an older Humminbird wide model fishfinder. It started making a ticking noise late last year , it still does it. It sounds like its coming from the transducer on my TM. Does anyone have any ideas ? I havent checked for any nicks yet , but I will. It works fine by the way...I would like to keep using it for now , but I am sure the fish can hear that thing...

That is the sound of the signal going out. Both my Humminbirds make that noise. Means it is working properly.

Yep this is normal. My side imaging unit on my Ranger did this so I asked a guy on our prostaff for our jig company who is sponsored by Humminbird and he said that it's normal and you will probably notice it more in either deep water or shallow water, I forgot which lol.

It sounds like sonar ticking in my tin boat.. but in my kayak with it glued to hull I sometimes think a bug is on my foot.

This is normal ??! Gosh Dam , I think maybe I should buy Lowrance from now on...lol. I suppose it is fine , it works good. I just think that snapping sound is loud and probably hurts your fishing. Maybe I should start marking those spots with my boueys and then turning the sounder off while working them.

CMorg, many of the pros do just that when fishing shallow water and spooky fish. Doesn't matter what brand, there is a sound emitted when the sonar signal goes down. Took me a while to figure that one out.
