disposing of old gas

Thanks for your welcomes & help. Will post pics when the boat is presentable.

Part of my previous problem: I have 30-40 gallons of gas in the tanks since my father-in-law died of lung cancer 3 years ago. I have called EMA, marinas & a few friends. No body is willing to take that volume of old gas. I am desperate for help. I can't get to the rest of the clean up until the tanks are empty.

why don't u check with some of the quick lube places around there, they take just about anything, that would be my guess

I think you have a great opportunity for some fun. Get yourself an empty 55 gallon drum and a very long fuse. I'm not going to actually tell you what to do next, but I would think it involves recording it on video for posterity.

we just put it in an old barrel and use it to start fires with, or pour it on old pine trees with worms.. works the same with burnt oil

When I drained my old boat I used the gas in my lawnmower and snowblower. I didn't have to buy gasfor them all summer & most of the winter!!

That was gonna be my suggestion too....Lawnmower or weedwacker fuel.....but then again it probably wouldn't be above me to pour a little in my truck.....A little smoke never hurt nuthin...lol

With 30+ gallons, I could power the mowers & weedwhackers for the neighborhood for the season! I like the Kaboom suggestion. Now I just have to find a ball big enough to shoot out the end of the 55 gallon drum!

Seriously, though... I spoke with a car dealer friend. He & a few other dealerships will take 10-15 gallons each & mix with their old oil. I just bought a slew of SeaFoam & this weekend I get to start rehabbing my motor! Here's hoping I can blow out all the carbon & junk without having to tear it apart!

I personally like the idea of using it to start fires, mowers and such. Can't see wasting that much fuel and "giving" it to car dealers for free.

I have a nephew who nearly blew his eyelids off with a tennis can potato gun (too-short fuse)! Guess they don't make the new plastic cans as well as the old steel ones!

Seriously, though. I live on the edge of a small town. No place to store that much gas & I can't use it, either. I have some farmer friends & none of them want my gas. I figured it'd be a no brainer that a farmer would want free gas.

i am finding it hard to believe that NO ONE wants free gas now-a-days. haha. wish oyu were closer to me cause i would take as much as i could get pal.

I hear ya Bama.....I've got a 12hp ridin mower that seems likes it has a Holley 750 double pumper on it, the way that thing drinks fuel.....lol

Naw....I don't think it'd hurt a thing....Add a little Seafoam or some Chemtool to the fuel, and my mower would never know the difference between it and something fresh outta the pump...lol. My father owned a gas station/garage and i've spent years around fuel of all sorts....regular pump gas to Nitromethanes for our race cars to White gas for our Coleman lanterns, and i've never had a fuel related problem using old fuels so I personally wouldn't worry about burning a little old gas.....Just treat it or dilute it with fresh fuel and burn it...lol
