fish it like a plastic texas rigged worm, like throwing into regions that you think bass will be at...however sometimes instead of the "tick" you feel, you'll just see your line moving. Some will tell you to wait a few seconds with a pnj bite before setting the hook, some set it as soon as they feel the bite.

And also throw them in places you would be afraid of losing a texas rigged worm, and you'll probably be pleasantly surprised Lizards

you want to fish the on the bottom obviosly but make it act like a crawdad or any other bottom walking bait. move your rod tip up then let it sink let it stsy for a little bit then do it again but watch your line alot.

it helps alot to add a trailer....crawdad trailers work real good, since usually that is what your are trying to make it act like. and i fish them where i cast out and let it sink to the bottom and either point my rod at it and reel in slowly or i reel slowly lift my rod up and down giving it alittle twitch, bumbing on and off the bottom.

I would also add practicing pitching and flipping in order to learn to work a P&J in close with heavy cover, laydowns, isolated pockets in weedbeds, and so on. A jig is just a jig if it can't be precisely put on target. A jig really shines in these situations.

Texas rig a worm? Piece of cake:
That will work for any soft plastic you want to rig weedless. With the exception of a Wacky Rig this is the only way I rig a plastic. Now, as to the Wacky Rig, it's even easier: This is also a great way to fish a soft plastic-as goofy as it looks it will catch a lot of fish. I usually use a Senko type bait or a trickworm.

Talking about jigs, my friend gave me a weedless 3/8 black jig with a black and chartreuse skirt. He told me to add a plastic trailer to it, but I don't know the best way to rig it on the hook. Can someone post a pic of what this should look like when done? It is a watermelon Yum Chunk that he gave me and he said it should work okay on there.

WSA-take a look at the sticky on worm rigs at the top of the page. I included a jig/trailer. You can rig them like the picture shows, or thread it on the hook-either way is effective.

I've seen people bounch glass boats off rocky points for a damn hook... But, back on topic, leave your worm home the next few trips, and just take a few jigs. Fish them exactly where, and if it makes you comfortable, exactly like a worm. |

i use the jig as a carolina rig chaser.if your dragging a 'rig and get several small brim like pecks toss a jig in and drag it.this is how i have caught 90% of my jig fish.most i have caught are 8-15 feet deep figured this out watching a video called "deep water bass" by tim sainato. -got it at bps- not so much the colors or the excate baits but watch him fishing the same area as a guy-his back seater-using a c-rig. when both of them are catching bass.. zooker
