Default Time of Day

What is the best time to fish for bass knowing that it is going to be a sunny warm day?

On those clear bright cloudless days, definately the earlier the better. And again later in the evening. Once the sun clears the tree tops, I notice a definate slowdown on the bite. But if you find yourself out there on a sunny day, work the shaded areas if you can find any. Also, under floatting weed mats and the deeper edges of the submerged weedbeds.

I took a friend to a pond yesterday from about 12 to 2:30, bright blue skies, he caught several dinks and I had a huge spawner hit my chug bug.

I've found that ponds react different than lakes to high pressure systems...for some reason the lakes get a lot tougher whereas ponds are pretty much alright....IMOP I find this to be the case.

I've found it to be that way too BPACA. Not sure why, but am guessing that bass in lakes have many more choices as to where to spend their time than bass in ponds simply because of a lakes size. With a pond, it's easier to locate them. But add a cold front to that bright bluebird sunny sky condition and even in a pond it gets rough.

I, too have found this to be the case. It's weird you'd think that in smaller waters it would be worse with weather changes.

It also depends on the water temp. From now until winter early and late will probably be the best. In the winter, though, the best bite is in the afternoon after the water has had a chance to warm up.

Up in NY, it's probably good most of the day. Depends on water temp though.....In the south in Late June- EArly September, the best time is often at night....
