BASS on Potomac
That was this weekend.. any results?
Every hotel and motel was chocked full of wrapped boats. I think this is going to be a tough tourny with water temps so high.. I also think they are going to have rough time keeping fish alive.. Capt Mike

Skeet ran south to the Nan and caught some quality fish to win it. Ran into Tommy B. in Occoquan and he had a small limit on Sunday. Buddy of mine ran into Ike in Pohick on Sat. and instigated the theft of his buoy marker....well really was there when Ike realized that it was missing. My friend suggested to Ike that someone must have grabbed it. It was funny to hear the story from my friend and then to hear Ike's version from another friend who attended the weigh in. Ike was hot that someone took his marker. Goldbeck caught a break when Klein's aerator clogged and killed off 4 of his fish. Sunday was tough fishing on the river... I only caught one but it was a good fish at 4.5lbs.

South to Nanj makes sense with salt encrochment. Makes an easy target when the last 200 yards of a creek is fresh enough. Did you know that every fish returned to weight in never makes it back to capture point on Nanj creek. I am surprised they did not wear out Tobacco Creek.
I will have to see TV coverage and watch the spin on the event.. Capt Mike

Any of you guys notice that a couple of 8's were caught during the Elite event? Anyone know where these monsters came from on the river?

I saw that. You catch a 7.75 and you don't get big fish!!!! I doubt that any were caught on film. One way to find out is to talk with the guys who caught them this winter at the shows.
I also noticed that the co-anglers had much smaller bags compared to two weeks ago. I finished with 17+ lbs and didn't get a check but a friend had 11+ and finished 39th and got paid. Huge difference two weeks makes. Here's the 4+ I caught Sunday. Long fish. I was surprised at the weight. Thought it was more in the 3-3.5 range. Last edited by 3dkicker; 08-14-07 at 04:34 PM. |
