Ever heard of Lake Jacksonville in Illinois?
What a bass lake it is. #1 in the state according to field and stream magazine this spring. At least 7, 10 + pounders this year, I caught a six pounder in july. If you have fished here or want to, let me know.

If you happen to remember what issue of field in stream was this article in? Also how many acres is it? It must pack a bunch of fish to beat out the Southern giants like rend or crab orchard...

I didn't read the article myself but, I did see this spring probably the march? issue it was named 1 of the top 3. Maybe the may or june issue. It said also there may be some bigger tournaments coming in the next two years(all this made the local newspaper). The lake is just over 430 acres, half of the lake is "no wake", and relatively shallow (around 10ft) "main lake" as it is called has spots that are 32ft. What makes this lake such a prolific bass producer is all the coves (72-75) and off the main lake there are DEEP points, water drops from fairly shallow (2-5ft) to almost 20ft in just the length of a decent cast. Lake record is 8lbs-14oz but not every fish is kept. I had one turn on a popper last weekend that scared the hell out of me, this one could have swallowed the six pounder I caught in July. (the one that got away)lol Anyway, during the week (except thursday) it is pretty quiet, and in the morning especially sunday it is very quiet.

Haha just to bust your balls... if the lake record is 8lbs 14 ounces how can 7 10+lbsers be pulled out every year? Sounds pretty good though i'll probably check it out in the next few weeks.

sorry about the clarity.... just what i've been told. The big ones weren't weighed at the dock, the guys didn't want to be bothered and didn't want to stress the fish out more than absolutely necessary. They put the fish on a digital scale, took a picture and let them go to breed more "good ol' florida strain bass" (it was stocked in 1990 and twice more in the 90's). my bad.
