Probably not too good but killer right along the deep edges where the milfoil gives up. That can be pretty deep though if the waters clear. I've got a clear/milfoil pond that I absolutely love where milfoil is still thick out to 15+.
I love milfoil, but a couple years ago I went to lowes and bought 5 or 6 mortar boards? think they're called......looks like white plywood but made from thin concrete?. Sank them randomly on milfoil growing out on top of a hump, marked with an subtle bamboo stalk and sorta created a few permanent personal pockets.
