Try this on crank baits
I have learned that Bass are very smart and at the same time they are very gullible. And one way to deal with these elusive little critters when they are schooling is to teach them a lesson that they can be outwitted by the little thing that we call the crank bait. And one way to do that is to cut some small decals that says " BITE ME" and attach to the sides of the crank baits, reel it through the Schooling bass and you have your self a fight on your hands. Never fails to out wit a bass that thinks he can out wit me.

ryan it is hard and doesn't pay. Takes me 10-15minutes to carve. Then painting can take days.
small mistake can ruin crankbait no action sometimes ruins crankbait Costs 1-2 dollars in wood and lip wood 1-2 dollars for split rings and hooks paint 2 dollars epoxy sandpaper etc.

less than that if you know where to get your stuff. Plus it gives you somthing to do when you can't go fishing other than sitting on here, especially when it's slow on here.

I'd try to burn a "Lick Me" on the side of a crankbait..seems fitting eh?
