Huh, I never thought of using a yoyo for a lure, but I guess I cant say it would not work... I have never heard of this before, I am unterested in knowing what that means or how it works.

To work one properly, hold your rod tip low and quartering to the side, put some slack in your line, and twitch your lure with sideways sweeps of the rod tip. Try to establish a rhythm to your twitching. Twitch pause, twitch pause, twitch pause. Getting the timing down takes practice. If you’re having trouble getting the bait to cut and glide properly, slow the pace and make sure you’re giving your lure enough slack after the twitch. Most beginners twitch too quickly on a too-tight line, preventing the bait’s nose from turning and gliding. The lure should be moving more to the left and right than it is toward you

He nailed it. I dont have it down to a perfect art yet, I kinda call my technique"FAT GUY WALKING A DOG". I walk, walk, walk then pause to catch my breath. Then walk some more. Not pretty, not textbook, but does have the fundamentals of proper technique. Do get some pretty good hits as I begin to walk again.

Off to the side. Point the shoulder opposite the hand you reel with towards the bait. I'm right handed so with a baitcaster I point my left shoulder and with spinning gear I point my right shoulder.

after ya run a spook and get the hang of it, you can do tricks with it, like make it move in one direction only if you have to avoid a possible stickup or hangup...its all about slack in your line between twitchs and having your rod tip pointed to the side at about 4:00 postion

I love me some topwaters! J.B. and Rebasser are right on, but may be explaining it in too advanced a manner. Cast parallel to the shore line if you can. If it's a small pond cast all the way to the opposite shore. If you are right handed, point your left shoulder and left foot towards the bait. Point your rod towards 6 oclock. Jerk your rod tip to 4 oclock twice. Reel in one revolution and repeat. Pauses and odd number twitches are great. You can also walk it seemlessly back to you by timing the 2 jerks/one revolution perfectly and at speed. You look kind of retarded doing it, but you will get the hang of it.
