Default Topwater Chatterbait...

I was playing around with retrieves for the chatterbait...it costs too much to just let it sit there in the tacklebox! Anyways, when i was fishing at my pond, i casted the chatterbait out, let it sink and then jerked it up to right under the surface. Once i had it up under the surface i started a slow, steady retrieve so that the blade was creating a wake. I had a couple bass HAMMER this retrieve. Was wondering if anyone else has done this.

yep, caught 5-10 last night on my "Water Rockers" which are basically the same just cheaper lol... and I caught 3-4 of those bass when making a ripple on the top. I caught a few more straight retrieving and a couple, letting em fall over the tops of brush piles.

A chatterbait is a combination jig/spinnerbait/crankbait. It's pretty new still. Somebody will post the website....

I finally picked one up. I used it for the first time last night without any luck. How are you supposed to use this.

I tried to jig it accross the bottom.
Use like crankbait with different rates of retrieve

How else can you use this.

retrieve it steadily right under the surface so it creates a wake. I had no luck the first 5 times with it. Just be patient.

if you dont want to spend that crazy retail price, I have em on my site, customizeable skirt and jig head color for a fraction of the price.
my username.com is the address.

thats considered pumping, or some variational word of it. jigging is more or less keeping in contact with the bottom, and bouncing it towards the shore or boat. Technically jigging can be anything with a jig, but typical bass guys known jigging as short little jumps off the bottom, ala a crawdad swimming back. hence, jig - n - craw, or jig - n- pig

"Buzzing" a Chatterbait or similar lure seems viable to me! I'm gonna add a trailer hook too.
Will also experiment with adding a soft trailer that "buzzes" as well.
