Wacky Lizard

Last night I went out to good old lake windsor and fished for a few hours. After about 5 hours of wacky worming it up and putting a hurting on my fishing buddy I decided what the heck (mainly because I ran out of worms) and wacky rigged a 8 inch lizard on a 4/0 offset hook. About 30 min later just when I was about to give up on ye olde wacky lizard a nice 3lber decided to have a midnight snack. I caught about 3 more on it in the next hour or so before we packed it in and went home. Anywho my question was this...is it pretty common to rig up just about any plastic wacky style or have I stumbled onto a new method here? Questions Comments and Answers are always welcome.

welcome to the wacky club rofl..yes this year I stocked up on tiki lizards, wallyworld was selling them all winter for a $1.50 a pack, so needless to say I bought them all winter to stock up...I got mostly rebs fav color watermelon red fleck, and wacky rigged them all spring with great results..
I am down to about 30 lizards now, for some reason I've moved on to other plastics, but they will work all the time I reckon'

No you haven't stumbled on something new . I've been WACKY for quite a few years now Congrats on the fish. I don't really wacky rig them, but have. I prefer the swimming motion. With the arms and legs flapping, and the tail a twisting T-rig for me, but if it works for you, keep Wacky rigging them, but as JB aptly pointed out, Lizards work ALL the time, winter, spring, summer, and fall

in your many journeys the last year and living in the south, do they utilize
the lizards down there or is the fluke the big bait........
OR.......
are you the only one wise nuff down there to throw the fluke!..I know in georgia they are a hit and always have been.....whats your input?

I've seen a few guys fishing flukes here, but most folks are throwing a spinnerbait or hard jerkbait from what I've seen. The lizard is definately used, but really any creature bait is popular down here. Most folks like a topwater prop style like Tom's favorite LOL. Or a Popper style Chug bug type bait. I use a lot of Buzzbaits still, and still catch fish occasionally. But will admit the topwater bite for me this year has been beyond poor, to really horrible. I of all people even went back to trying the FROG this year, with no success I might add. Beleive me I keep throwing them, but just aint getting any takers unless it's almost dark, either am or pm. The pros are the guys who can get the fish off the channels and know the humps/pockets. If they are fishing vegetation, they will usually be flipping/pitching real heavy Jig/T-rig of at least 3/4oz, up to about 1 1/2 oz. The Pitching has been whats worked best for me, other than the Flukes of course. The rivers seem to work better for spinnerbaits and crankbaits, where as the lakes seem to work better with the topwater, and plastics/jigs. Is that the little input you were looking for rotflmao. I know it's not near as long as so many of your wonderful ascertations into the realm of chaos, but it's the best you're getting tonight.
