New lure, first cast, and a bass
Yesterday, I was fishing and only using a worm. Then, right before I left for the day, I wanted to try a new lure I just bought the day before (a Rapala jointed shad rap). I just wanted to see what kind of wiggle and swimming motion it had.
I casted it out and was reeling it in, and about 5 feet from the bank....Bam! A 2 Lber grabbed it. I was definitely not expecting that and it took me by suprise, but what a rush. I joked to my friend that I was going to retire it right then as a winner! And I still do not know what kind of motion/wiggle it has since it was getting dark and the water was a bit murky, LOL

I love jointed cranks. Try Cotton Cordell's, too.

I once found a 1/4 oz. spinner jig with a twin tail twister grub threaded onto the hook while I was fishing one day. I hadn't caught a thing all morning. I pulled it off a submerged log that someone had snagged it on. I thought, what the hell, I'll give it a shot. So I tied it one and just like your story Twin, I caught a bass the first cast. What a thrill that is!

Biggest bass I ever caught came on literally the last cast of the day. Mid November, just about dark. I was outside of Ft. Worth and decided to hit this little tank in the next pasture. Took one rod with a spinnerbait with a single Colorado blade on it. Said to myseld, "one more cast", chunked it out and BAM! It was right at 8 lbs, and that was a VERY special fish. I'll tell the story one of these days.
Busted off a double digit on Choke Canyon which is south of San Antonio on a baby bass/pearl swirl Bamboo Stick, but that is another story.

Twin, Good Jorb! (Yes, the "r" is intentional, Zookerstein.) While I cannot offer advice (new policy in force) re how best to further employ the lure to which you refer, I'm betting you will learn to fish it effectively and I wish you much success therewith. As ever, your friend and non-mentor (cruel as that may seem.) F.Rod I'ze in ur boat, catchin' ur bazz. |

Yeah, I caught your new policy post. Kind of sux for some of us who have learned to listen to the older folks with all of the knowledge.
Anyway, I will keep you posted on how the lure is working.
