Default The Recoil Rig

Hey guys,

I stumbled upon this site the other day that had an interesting rigging that I had never seen before, very clever...this is the site, http://secretweaponlures.com/spectastic.htm be sure to check out the video, the dying shad looks incredibly realistic..

Here's a drawing I put together of how I believe it works, I don't think it's necessary to buy the kit they are trying to sell, I think you could easily create your own with some small spectra like line...

I bet you could use the rubber bands from having braces. Just would have to rig with parts that you can get the band on.

Looks an aweful lot like the perfectly fine dropshot to me. If it ain't broke, don't fix it..

It used to be called the 'spectastic wiggle rig' if i recall (no kidding), but SWL decided to rebrand it and start over. I have a huge box of samples the inventor sent me, but they haven't seen water yet.

The elastic (spectastic) band is much longer than an ortho-elastic though. (it's probably around 5"-6")

tennessee posted the same site a few days ago. the difference between this rig and the dropshot is that the elastic lets the bait swim in circles without actually moving the rig.

Thing is the weight would have to be heavy to hold the bait in place. This has to make it hard to cast. Now I have not drop shot yet but would think it's not as easy to cast and adding more weight would make it harder to cast.

Just another gimmick seems like to me and if it really works every brand and shop will be selling them next year.
