Default Seeking advice on boat purchase.

I don't know if I should buy a new boat or a used boat.
used- very short loan term & higher intrest rate, but cheaper.
New- longer terms, lower intrest rate and warranty, but more exspensive.
Thanks for any advice!

that will be a decision only you can make. there are a lot of good deals out there right now on used boats because of the economy and there will be a lot more good deals coming up this fall when tourney guys are buying new boats. just something to think about. but be sure and get the most boat you can afford. meaning don't buy anything smaller than what you want just because you find a good deal, you will just end up with a boat that will piss you off everytime you get in it, and make sure whatever boat you buy has the biggest motor it is rated for.

Same principle that works for used cars:

c-rig is dead on the money. There's alot of good used boats for sale that still have some warranty on them.

Unless I hit the lottery, I will probably never own a brand new boat. However, I do like to have a newer, clean machine. So try to find a 3-5 year old boat that still looks new, and make sure the mechanical side of things is in good working order. You'd be amazed to find out just how many 5 year old boats are out there, sitting in a garage, and have spent less than 100 hours on the water.

Ok, thanks guys! I heard fall and winter were always the best time to buy a boat. Can ya"ll recommend a few used boats/motors that hold their re-sale value, and some boats/motors to stay away from? I know this might stir up some contraversy about who makes the best and who makes the worst, but I'm not trying to. I know Ranger, Champion, Skeeter, Triton and Stratos are all big names in the bizz, but I'm not looking to purchase just a name. And I don't want to buy a POS just because its cheap and has a big motor. Just looking for a little more guidance, is all. Thanks again, ya"ll are very helpful and informative and this is a great web site!

I have a 1996 Stratos 295 Pro XL with a 200 Johnson which has a value of about $10-12,000. You can do better than that depending on where you live. Lots of stress cracks but they are normal in those years of Stratos! Good fishable boat, 65 MPH +, good rough water ride, good storage!

Any of the boats you listed are fine boats!

How about some of the other brands like Hydra-bass, Pro Craft, Javelin and Tracker? Should I stay away from boat companies that are no longer in buisness? "nice boat by the way!"

Bass Cats are highly rated across the boards, with its fishability, the way it handles rough water, and customer service, make this a top pick.
