Storm Swimbaits
JB's post about the Tiny Trap reminded me of something I wanted to ask-
Has anybody used the Storm baits that look like a 1-2 inch Bluegill? Saw some yesterday and thought they looked pretty good. The only drawback I have found-and Zooker will back me on this one-is they will snag up big time-if you throw one in the vicinity of a flooded tree you WILL get hung up.

reb, i just watched a catfishing show where they were using the swimbait.
On a linder show a few months ago I saw him slay the walleye with the 4 or 5 inch swimbait on a 3/4 ounce jig head, so of course I had to go buy some and see how they are for bass n walleyes up here...havent tried mine yet, but they look realistic as heck. |

Reb I bought 2 paks of them last year. I used them a couple of times with no luck. Bill dance has a swimbait that you pour attractant into the gills of the leadhead jig part. I might try those. Did you see the tv swim bait that is new and improved? Babe Winkleman swears by it. Can't remember the stupid name of it. Some guy out on the wast coast sells a bluegill bait that is very nice. He has male and female gills. I want to get a trout swimbait for the hog that is in the one trout lake I fish.

Used a few different types. No real luck w/ fish, did catch a bunch of sticks and stumps. What quite surprised they didn't work, they appear very lifelike and have a pretty good action.

I haven't tried the Storm baits but River2Sea makes a great swimbait that's around 3 to 4 inches long.

Are you talking about the ones with the holographic eye? I bought the ghost shad, bluegill, even fire tiger. The ones I had some success on the pearl colored ones. Had to go to walmart and buy a new pack. After 2 or 3 nice strikes the body comes off.

Last season, I purchased a pack of the Storm swimbaits in pearl. They look great and swim great but I have yet to catch anything with them.

I know the ones you're talking about..they also have crappie in a 3-4" body size. Part of the Storm Wildeye Live series, I believe.

I keep seein those at Wal-Mart..everytime I peruse the tackle aisle keepin an eye on things..I think about buying some, just haven't pulled the trigger yet. I think they'd be great for ponds, anything where bluegill are pretty much the primary food source.
I have crappie in my pond as well as bluegill..so I'm thinkin about both. |

I keep telling myself I gonna give some of them a try again here in FL. I will tie one on this weekend and see how it does? I have small 3" up to 6" swim sizes. I have caught a few fish on them, but nothing to make me get real excited about them. They do get hung up a lot, and aren't very good going through weeds. I'm gonna try them along the weed edges this time.

Storm swimbaits are fantastic for Striper fishing (Chesapeake flats), and the Tsunami brand is a little better. Tsunami have a halographic foil in them that gives them more flash is clear water and they have much better eyes. I have caught up to 30 stripers on one Storm "wildeye" swimbait. They hold up very well. Haven't tried them on largemouth yet, but will this summer. No more jighead and sassy shad bodies for me, this bait is much better for Striper fishing. The perch pattern swimbait caught a couple stripers at Kerr a few weeks ago.

KILLER!!!!!!!!!!! Fish them right in schools of sunfish, near the outskirts, and anywhere water is moving good "ambush points". I love them at my uncles lake, which has large culverts and canals going into it, where small baitfish and large bass congregate.
