Question newbie question

Hey Im new to it all been fishing bass last 3 years and all I know is what I learned by trial and error. I recently bought a couple of chatterbaits and they have this weird metal spiral thingy by the eylet what is that for?

The only spiral thingie is usually for screwing a plastic bait on a hook. Maybe it's a weird setup for a trailer.

I've not seen a "chatterbait" style lure with a spiral keeper on it, if that's what is being talked about. It certainly wouldn't be of much use at the eye, as the eye is at the front of the jig head. Possibly he may be refering to the snap on the blade which is where you tie your line to. I have seen some that connect the blade to the jig head with a split ring, possibly some brand uses some other type connection, but the Z-man Chatterbait uses a direct blade connection to the eye.
