Reel Flashy Chrome = Sore Eyes!
I have had it the flashy chrome on my Shimano Sonora 2500FA spinning reel!
Each turn of the reel handle, wham right in my eyes! I have been thinking for painting the reel to a mat finish or use tap? Before I go to the extreme any thoughts and ideas? FYI: The Shimano Sonora 2500FA spinning reel tangles MORE around the Roller than my Shimano Syncopate 2000FA spinning reel with a Trigger, who knew... |

We got rid of the flashing problem on old Zebco 33 chrome reels by gluing on camo colored paper scraps......wasn't cool, but did the job. Didn't mind the flash on the face, but really thought the occasional flash on the water would spook fish.
They do sell camo tape at gunshops. Some of it will pull off without leaving a tacky surface I'm told. |

Yeah, I don't like shiny items like that and even prefer non finished blanks. The best solution other than not to look down at it, which is hard to not do, is to where polarized glasses. They will or should filter that glare.

Thanks for the tips.
I'm a Windows User and I wear glasses, so the flash is very bad on my eyes... |

Find someone in your area that does vehicle wraps....stop by and tell them what your doing....you might be able to get some scraps of camo colored wrap for no cost...the camo stuff has a flat finish to it.....they throw away scraps bigger than you'll need....just cut it to fit the problem areas on your reel and stick it on.
