First Tourney
Hey guys, I fished my first tourney this weekend. I fished with a friend on his 16' bass tracker, no sonar, makeshift live well, 30hp engine, transom mounted trolling motor. We fished on Lamoka Lake a 826 acre lake in southern NY. There was 35 boats that entered and only about half weighed in. The winner had a 5 fish 13.5 lb bag and we ended up with a 3 fish 3.58 lb bag (2nd to last of the people that actually weighed in). I'm not upset at all given that this was our first time fishing this lake, we still had an awesome time. The guy that organized the tourney actually won it, is this usually the case in your experience?

I can't say that is always the case but if it is a one lake tournament (not a series) you can usually count on the guy to know the lake pretty well and be near the top. You can bet he feels confident there otherwise he probably wouldn't organize a tournament on that lake.
When the director fishes he generally has a slight disadvantage if anything since he has to watch the blast off to make sure it goes smoothly and he has to be back early to set up the scales and handle the check-in. |

Congrats on weighing in. I've never fished a tourney but it sounds like you did good.

One thing I've noticed about tournament directors, including from time to time, being one, is that they work their a$# off with little to no thanks. Rarely, have I seen one even place in a tournament. I know I never did.
