Default First fishing of the year yesterday

Finally!!
Went to lake Potanipo in Brookline NH.
Wife worked until 1, so we didn't get on the water until 2:30 or so.
Tried everything, got skunked.

BUT....it was an afternoon on the water with my best friend. It was our maiden voyage for the boat I bought her for her birthday, a 12" aluminum mirrocraft & 6hp Evinrude. MUCH better than last year's new boat, a 10' jon boat, which was better than the previous years' canoe.

Have one problem that's really driving me nuts. Fished all my life, including a local club doing 10 tourneys a year & NEVER had such a problem with line twist as I've had the past 2 years. Spinning reels, line properly installed but still, at some point I'm going to get a gigantic mess

That's what I'm sayin.
As for the line twist, I keep mine treated with reel magic and I don't have much of a problem anymore.

Congrats on getting on the water, and having a wife that wants a boat for her birthday!

Try a line conditioner on those spinning reels. I like KVD Line and Lure the best. Also, always close the bail by hand, don't reel while a fish is pulling drag, and there are a few other tips that I can't remember right now. I'm sure someone else will post some.

depends on the line... so far using Pline CX and CXX, and Power Pro raid on my spinning reels, I never see any line twist.

As for a boat... that is something coming someday in my future... probably a jon boat is next since I have the canoe right now

Still better than last year's 10'....and budgets being what they are....

With proper care and watering, it could grow to 14' next year
