Default ICast 2011

So in the next week there is going to be a lot of talk about all the products coming out at ICAST '11, so there might as well be a thread to discuss all of the new gear. I was looking over some of the first glance products on Wired2Fish and noticed that St. Croix is coming out with a new rod series the Rage. I'm really looking forward to seeing more about this rod, as I am currently in the market for a new rod.

What do you all think?

I am interested in seeing the new reel line up. I saw Bassmaster and Tackle Tour are going to have coverage so I will try to tune in.

It's always exciting, and the stuff they show us early is just a tease and the tip of the iceberg. The best stuff is yet to come. For you strike king fans I heard they are coming out with a topwater frog, like a spro I think. And I can't wait for the new Abu Garcia reels.

Looks like ya beat me to the punch jersey! Where's everyone getting there 2011 Icast into from? For me I'm checking w2f, WFN, Tackle tour, Tackle warehouse and Salty shores. Bassmaster looks like they got some stuff too.

Tackle warehouse all the new Shimano stuff on their site now.

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shima...LCSHIMANO.html

First observation...

Citica and Chronarch look the very similar.. Curado... still green!

$129 Citica G.. still probably preforms similar to an E
$160 Curado.. still probably preforms similar to the E
$200 Chronarch.. doubt it'll preform like the D.

Good part though is 6.5:1 Gear rations in left hand for all!

When is shimano going to fill the 200 - 300 price bracket back up?

Why do all the new rods look like ugly Cumaras? lol

http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Shima...DCSHIMANO.html

Check out the new GL2.. Looks AWESOME!! 6 lines of technique specific GL2 rods.

http://www.gloomis.com/publish/conte...s_casting.html

~~~~~~
Tackle warehouse also has alot of the new daiwa stuff as well. Lots of black and red.
http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa...-RLCDAIWA.html
http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa...-RLSDAIWA.html
http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Daiwa...-RDCDAIWA.html
I wonder how the Aird Spinning Reels will compare the the exceler?
~~~~~~

Power Silk 8 looks pretty cool.

Thanks Joe! The Quantum Exo Looks sweet. NICE looking frog too.

Looks like Lew's has some new baitcasters too. The Speed Spool MG (not magnesium), at $129.Looks like it's going Right below the Tournament Speed Spool. http://www.tacklewarehouse.com/Lews_...page-LTMG.html

Looks like Tackle warehouse has plans for the new Lew's Laser MG Speed Spool Casting Reel. I hanv't found info anywhere else about it, but here's the TW link. No pics yet. Not sure if the price is $250 or $80. lmao.

~~~~~~
John.. you'll Like this one.
Garcia has also revamped the Pro and Silver Max baitcasters. I havn't seen anything about a Black max yet though.
New Garcia spinning reels too like the Orra S for $70.. same price the 500 Cardinal. And orra SX ($100), putting it right up there with the Sorron SX. Make me wonder if they'll be discontinuing the older two. Hmmmm.
Read awhile back about someone working with a company to come out with CF grips...Pretty slick looking rod (no pun)
Nice Job Sammy throwing out all the links...Everything looks pretty tasty!
I would have loved to see a real Chronarch 50, not the Curado 50E repainted with the Chronarch name on it...
As for the Daiwa reels, I'll be getting a T3, most likely the Ballistic. $430 for the T3 is well above used Steez price range. I'd take the Steez.
The new Rapalas look great. I'm still waitting for them to come out with shallow versions of the jointed Shad Raps.
I am pretty excited about the Shimano's Chronarch line up! Some lefty reels with a gear selection! And something other than green! If you own an CU201E7 like I do, The new gears should allow us to swap out the 7 to 1's.
I have heard some posse' rumbbles, But I don't think were done seeing what they have in store for 2011/2012.
Wouldn't surprise me. With the new cheap Chronarchs (which seem to be more of a rebadged Curado) at the $200 price point, they need something to fill in the now $150 gap between them and the Core. Maybe I can get a deal on a Chronarch D now that the new cheaper ones are out.
Looks like you tube has got a bunch of stuff too guys.
~~~~

Ohhhh.... Micro veritas.

Also they this article put it, they're revamping the Vengance rods, and adding a new Winch crankin stick... sounds pretty sweet to me.

http://blog.wired2fish.com/blog/bid/...inning-Villain

And about the MGX/Villain combo! Jaw droppin or what? The MGX btw won best in show for freshwater reels.

Seaguar braid and mono! Looks like I'll have some new lines to try.

The VMC Tungsten weights are something I'm looking forward to as well. VMC is known to offer a good product at a decent price. Let's hope they stick with that for the Tungsten weights.

The Shimano videos confirm that their rods are using the same blanks as the next model up in last year's models. So the Crucial is basically a Cumara with cheaper guides. The Compre, now using the old Crucial blank, would dominate the value or budget rod section of the market if they had used Alconite guides. But I guess they gotten cheapen them up somehow...

Agreed! Looks like shimano really upped then anti with their rods. They'll definitely be a top contender for budget rods... namingly the compre. I can't really say the same for the reels though... time will tell.

"The weights will retail from $4.49 to 8.99 depending on size." Looks like an ok price to me! http://blog.wired2fish.com/blog/bid/...erminal-Tackle
