Live well question
Have a live well question, i have a old V bottom boat an want to install a livewell...how many gallons are necessary to assure 6 big bass would be alive when it's time to weigh in in small local tourneys? any recomendations on installation? i'm trying to keep it simple, but most important keeping them Hawgs alive, any tips would surely be appreciated, trying to do it as cheap as possible, Thank's !!

Don't know what size but you might want to look into the live-wells sold down here. It's a plastic barrel type thing and is usually used to transport bait in trucks down here but could be used in a boat. I believe they make many different sizes from like 30 gal. to over 200.

Since I have rigged many aluminum boats for live wells and done a couple for me I have found the 60qt igloo ice chest to be just about the best size available. It allows for an extra seat ion the boat, big enough to hold to peoples catch for a day of fishing, not to big that weighs the boat down to much and very easy to rig up. I actually use 2 pumps on the ice chest when permanently mounting in a boat. I use a airation pump after filling the chest and a single pump for filling or emtying the chest with 2 simple flow through valve's that you can switch for filling or emtying.

Laser, since 60 quarts roughly equals 18. gallons, with the addition of pumps and aerator, and not being able to fill it completely full. What are you looking at ? Maybe 17 gallons of water at best ? 17 gallons of water weighs 141.61 lbs, minus the weight of the cooler and pumps. Most tournament bass boats have livewells, or one big one with a divider. 2 coolers would push 300+ lbs in weight. 2 coolers could handle 6 big hawgs, I am not sure if 1 cooler would ? P N J
