Default Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine and Sam Rayburn

Mattern Guide Service on Lake Palestine & Sam Rayburn & Lake Fairfield

Hello Everybody,

James 5; Verses 14 & 15: Is any sick amoung you? Let him call for the elders of the church; and let them pray over him, anointing him with oil in the name of the Lord.

Lake Palestine: Water temps have been cold, the coldest so far this year with the backwaters about 42.5 degrees and the Main Lake around 47-48 degrees.

The bite has been tough with some bigger Bass comming in though. One over 10 lbs. was caught this Saturday by Randy Bowman at the individual Media Bass Tourney.

Bass were hitting Texas rigged crawworms in darker colors and Carolina rigged french fries also working off drops and points. Good colors were watermelons on the french fries and black & blue on the craws.

Jigs also caught Bass in colors of Black and Blue. Rattle traps and spinnerbaits caught a few but still 2-8 bites a day have been the norm.

Warming air temps for the next few days should get the Bass to hitting better.

Sam Rayburn: Water temps have been running from 47-52 degrees. Bass hitting rattle traps in the grass and carolina rigged lizards in watermelon red & Green Pumpkin. Good trap colors have been you usual Rayburn reds, oranges, blue back chrome and black back chrome.

Spinnerbaits in whites and chartrueses and combo,s of both worked slowly over hydrilla have been producing. A 7 lber. came in this week on the carolina rig and some great 5 lbers on rattle traps.

Texas rigged crawworms in Junebug and Jigs in Black and Blue and Watermelon have been working also.

Lake Fairfield: With the cold chills of old man winter breathing down even Fairfield felt the effects with only about 10 Bass being caught Friday up to about 3 lbs. Bass were hitting the Nichols Green Pumpkin Pepper Salty Mother Sinker, rigged wacky stlye and Creature baits in watermelon Candy rigged Texas stlye next to the reeds.

Carolina rigs produced some Bass up to about 3 lbs. at the discharge.

Water tremps were 75 in the Discharge and about 53-55 degrees by the Dam. The colder frigid weather put the clamps on the active bite but with warming air temps the Power Plant will warm the Main Lake up quickly and the Bass and redfish will be active again.

All the male Bass we caught had red tails showing the beds are in progress. Once the Lake stabilizes we will see some great action.

Please remember my great sponsors who make it possible for me to stay with it and keep the reports comming.
