Default odd question

WHY would you fish for large mouth bass that are difficult to catch and smaller, when you could fish the salt surf and catch bigger, stronger, more plentiful fish. What do you think?Mike

if I wanted something easy, I'd fish for bluegill or cats.

yeah, trying to find the lure they want that particular day is part of the fun, not many people would do it if it was easy!

I do my fair share of surf fishing.Nuthin like fishing for big red drum and stripers in the surf. This is seasonal though. And the beach is PACKED with tourons in the summer. You can pretty much bass fish all year long and dont need to be slinging 8and bait all day, which I can say from experience is just as tiring as cranking deep divers.Besides,as long as you are fishing, does it REALLY matter where you do it at?

hmmm live in missouri. 1500 miles at least to the nearest place to surf fish. Don't know crap about fishing in the ocean. looks like from what i've seen it's a lot of "bait-n-wait" or trolling for long periods for a couple of bites. That doesn't sound interesting to me. We do have carp that easily hit 50 lbs. and catfish that easily make 80lbs. and spoonbill that break 100lbs. and fishing for them is boring, too boring till ya hook one. But the few bites ya get, ( or the ones ya snag in the case of spoonbill), even if they are big, is not worth the time to me. Bass fishing is like a puzzle. To consistantly catch them under the different seasons and conditions seems to me to be more engaging. Ya don't just sit and wait for something to come along or hope you get lucky and run accross one to snag (in the case of spoonbill). A person can activly pursue and must adjust to a number of factors, even within a one or two hour period. It just seems to me to be more of a challenge, and you stay busy/active the whole time, IF you want to catch Bass consistantly.

Cool

Thats a easy one to answer, ya see, just go in debt, buy a 30,000 bass rig, fill up with o lets say 5 grand in rods and tackle, then
hit a bass tournie that pays, o lets say 450 bucks, then hook into a big un that you think will pay the rent, only to find out its a 10 lb shovel head!
try that on the ol ocean

um why do we bass fish??? if bass were easy to catch like we say bluegill for instance,it wouldnt be that fun right?????its more like trying to figure out whats on his mind.all the bluegill thinks is that he wants a worm,we know that,so we throw a natural worm, its easy, heres a article i once read

http://bassresource.com/beginner/why_bass_fishing.html

that should do it
