Default Tip #2 for all states

From my #1 tip buy some Horny Toads and fish them like buzz baits over matted grass. Same rig but use a faster retrieve. Simple and very effective. OH and say "Capt Mike says wait" before setting hook.

Enjoy

Capt Mike

Also try the following, use a bullet weight pegged at the nose and bring in the bait about a foot under the surface. The hooktail legs will throb the water a little better being submerged......can't fish the mats this way, but you certainly can fish the edges.

Good advice, but Sizmics seem to work equally well based on comparisons between my partner and me. He's Horny, I'm Sizmic.

I agree Marty. The sizmics thinner profile seems to have a better hook up ratio for me. Both work well, but I feel the sizmic's thinner body is more forgiving on hookset. I can pretty much use the sizmic as I use most soft plastics, get bit, set hook. I've also began using the V&M bayou bullfrog. The action on the legs is a little more noticeable. Just my simple comparison, I did have more strikes on the above mentioned over the horny and sizmic.

That's why I chose Sizmics, because they looked like they'd give me more confidence in the hooksets.
