Default Rod/Reel Buy

I just sent this to Reb. But now I think I should post it out here...

I'm willing to drop $200 on a reel. I could get about $40 off on a reel, so if one of the recommendations is above $200, don't worry.

I think I'm going to get a 6'6" Medium Airrus Co-Matrix rod.

There are quite a few reels on my list:

-Shimano Curado
-Team Daiwa X
-Team Daiwa Tuned Advantage
-Revo SX
-Quantum Tour PT

I have :

6'6"MH Casting
7'0"H Casting
6'6"M Spinning
______________
Revo STX -casting - 6.4:1
Pflueger Purist -casting - 6.2:1
Shimano Sienna 2000 -spinning

Out of the casting equipment I have right now, which reel should go on which rod?

I bought my Revo STX to go with the 7'0"H, but it doesn't feel right on it. I think the Revo should be a reel that I constantly cast and reel with.

I'd like something for throwing lighter baits with treble hooks (jerkbaits, crankbaits, topwater)

What are your recommendations?

Thanks a lot...

Julien

Consider the Quantum Tour PT. You can adjust the reel much quicker than most models

When you say that, do you mean the tesion?

I won't be using the tension knob, so that isn't factor for me.

The Revo, hands down, if it doesn't feel right, try popping the plug on your rod (if you can), and balance it. Plus the SX is nicer looking thtn the STX

On some rods, there is a cap at the butt of the rod, and a hollow space you can add weights, or quarters, to balance the rod to your reel. Not sure if your rod has that or not, though.

Cool. After some thinking, I think I have a plan...

I am gonna sell my dad my old pflueger purist combo.

I will buy a 6'6" Medium Airrus rod and put a Revo STX on it. The Revo STX doesn't feel right on a 7'0" to me? It needs to be casted all day.

I will buy a 6'6" Medium Heavy Rod(not sure which one yet?) and put a Quantum Tour PT on it.
That reel should go well with the applications.

Probably A TD Advantage will go on my 7'0"H.

How does that sound?

Apparently the tour doesn't come with any sort of punctuation or spellchecker.

I got a Quantum Tour PT Burner for $193.49 on Ebay. They sell them for $200 here at sportsman's. I saved about $20.

PS-How much is shipping for a rod by airrus?

That's the kicker on internet rod purchases! It's $21, but they'll ship up to three for that price. I'm getting ready to order a Puls-R, waiting on my buddy to get his $$ together so we can have both shipped to one house, save that little bit of money!

I just noticed something...Airrus has an ad on this forum, can't hurt to call and ask if there is a discount associates with being a member of the forum, might be enough to negate shipping
