Simple question
I am new to bass fishing ( none in my home area) and have just begun to fish here in southern Arizona. I am somewhat familiar with some of the lures/baits, etc. but nowhere does any of the info tell me whether or not I need to use a
steal leader ( or any leader). Are leaders necessary? sundawg |

You don't need a steel leader for bass fishing. A steel leader will kill the effect
of your lure. Just make sure you use a good line and tie a good knot. I have to wait for the lakes to thaw up here in Ohio before I can hit the water. Good luck to you! |

Thanks a lot guys.....if I was at home (Alberta) I'd be ice fishing for trout, walleye & pike. Here in the south I get to try something new...catfish & bass.
Thanks for your replies...much appreciated. |

No problem, Dawg! Hope you can catch 'em. Nothin' like catfish and hush-puppies for dinner!

not to make anyone mad or start anything. but youare new to the usa i am thinking. so a little lesson for ya. az is not in the south, lol, it is in the west to midwest. anyone there will probably try to fight you if you say they are southern folks. then again, i have heard texans say they re western and southern. so i may be wrong. but about leaders. i will use a mono leader on all my worm setups. that way, i can shange them quickly if i don't like them. some i have set up with a 1/4, some 1/2 ounce leads. and they are rigged texas, and carolina style. the leader isn't that long, about a foot or shorter. and i always use the same test as my line on the reel. it is just the way my father taught us. it may not work for you. but then again it may. hope i helped you some.

Ditto. I am a native Texan (living in Georgia, dangit!). We are both, but more importantly we are Texans! The only state in the Union that can fly the state flag at the same height as the US Flag!
