Skeet Reese Rods

Ok so here they are:

I was just wondering if anyone has used them or has any insight. I was thinking about purchasing one of these, I've heard good things. But before I do, I just wanted to know if anyone knew about the most versitile rod in the package. I do fish crankbaits often, but I use frogs, worms and occasionally spinnerbaits too, not to mention the occasional shakey head. I usually fish at local quarries and other places that are less than accessible with more than one rod. So I just had a question as to see which is the most versitile for what I'm doing?

hmm.. just by looking at them online (if you buy on line buy from tackle warehouse, free shipping over 50 bucks), I'd say either the worm/spinnerbait, or the senko/worm.

But go to the store if you can, and check out all the action they have, and which feels best to you, than make your choice from there.

I have the 6'11" shakey head model. I find it to be fairly versatile, but I wouldn't throw cranks on it. The tip is way to fast IMO.

Just saw a guy with 2 of them on a local Monday night tourney. He said he likes them, I believe they were 7'6" or 8'. Didn't have a chance to mess with them myself.

I have two of them. I have the worm/spinnerbait rod and the big glass crankin' stick. They are great rods and I love them. May even look at buying some more of them.

The Skeet rods look sweet. However, people have been having issues with loose reel seats. Also, some of them I've looked at in stores weren't crafted well. The guides weren't straight at all on a couple of them.

The one's I've looked at had crooked guides too. Honestly I think most production rods probably do, it's just much more noticable on the Skeet rods because you can see the guide feet through the yellow wraps.

The grip material used on those rods seems nice though, it's like eva but more rubberized than foamy.

The Carbonlites have rubber heat shrink tubing that goes on over the existing grips. The Skeet rods use a different kind of eva material.

I'm pretty sure they make it in colors too. You heat it with a heat gun and it shrinks down on to the grip.

i have an 8' flippin rod and it weighs a ton i dont like it and am very disappointed in it i wish i would have bought somthing else.

First let me say I have never fished one of these so I can't make a recomendation. However, from playing around with them in a store they seemed a little too tip heavy for my taste....but again thats just personal preference. There are alot of quality rods in this under $100 price range to choose from.

Now as to your question, I would go with the spinnerbait, worm rod based upon your description of what you're looking for. The rod's power/action should be okay with most of your techniques and several of the reviewers on BPS site mention that it does well with cranks.

i thought they were heavy too the vandettas are lighter in my opinion but if you like it enough buy one.

i bought the topwater/jerkbait one....i love it, i can throw light poppers a country mile. I havent tried out any of the other rods...but for 100$ i would say they are a great buy

Looked at them last night in Gander Mountain. Too heavy and too stiff for my taste. But the sales guy showed me some rods made (or at least with their name on them) by Gander Mountain. $99.00 and they were much lighter and sensitive. Nicest ones i have picked up in a while.

I haven't fished them, but I saw this in the ones I picked up too when I was thinking about buying one. But like JRob said, I reckon the black on yellow shows this better because of the contrast. I also noticed several of them has a kink or a turn to the right or left on the blank 6-10" from the tip. It seems like today that a $100 rod is mediocre in the market. But a 100 buck, is still 10 bucks.

I think you can get get excellent rods in the $100 range... but the skeet reese isnt it unless you are a body builder. These things are heavy. But i have not fished with on... only held one at BPS...

I have the Senko/Toad version paired with a revo stx no complaints here. I have fished with it for about 3 months now.

I have 2 Skeet Rods, the worm/spinnerbait rod and the big glass crankin' rod! Absolutely love them! They have great feel and are light, and very durable!
A prostaff guy in my area has a whole lineup of the new ones, and I got to mess around with them and test them out for about two hours a few weeks ago! They are sweet, even better than the older ones!
I'll definitely be adding a few more of these!

I held them at my frist trip to BPS ever and must say, they had a nearly Lamiglas (but not quite and lesser) feel to them. I guess I shouldn't be surprised given who his previous sponsor was.

I'd take the Excel line over most rods in this $100 price range. It is made on Lamiglas' well renowned certified pro blank at a very affordable price. I've held the Carbonlites and the Bucoos, but in my hands, the Excels just felt better.

And, I'd take the Skeet rods over the Carbons and Bucoos. I've been Lamified!
