Outboard oil injector pumps
Anyone here dissconnect theirs after a certain amount of engine hours because they're worried that the pump *might* go out?

The folks that run modified engines do it as a precaution and the older Mercs had a plastic gear that used to fail. They did have a metal gear that could be installed. If you keep up on the system and use good oil as per your manufacturer recommendations normally you wont have a problem.

Any idea when they changed from plastic screw to better oil pump? I have a 1994 Mariner 60 hp, wondering if I should premix or put faith in the oil injector. Thanks.
