Zoom Toads always swimming uspside down

OK,

So I have just been using them the handicap way and every 3rd cast or so they would stay right side up..

Then I decided enough was enough and I would ask the experts. How do i rig the darn things to stay right side up cast after cast?

Any insight?

Well im sure someone will chime in with a brighter idear, Maybe put a small splie shot on the underside of the frog or the hook just some weight on the bellyside?.... I never use frogs so Im not sure how to help you id have to see the rig to make an accurate suggestion.

umm and your point is?? let me ask you this do they still catch fish even upside down?? answer yes!!
does it matter which way the hook is pointing when you set the hook ?? no!!

look a frog is like crack to a bass. one way or another he has to have a fix..in other words he will nail it..upside down, backwards,and inside out it matters NONE!!!..

I've noticed this perculiar trait of the Toad also. While it might bother you some I refer back to Zookers post. I have found that if when you cast the toad and it lands upside down a fast sweeping jerk of the rod sometimes uprights it. Also, I have found that if you use the brand name toad hook this happens less often.

If it really matters then I have the solution. Just twitch the frog slightly before reeling it in, wait two seconds...maybe three to allow it to flip over (which it does), and proceed to whackin' fish!
As Zooker said it doesn't really matter the fish will eat it. I've caught plenty with the hook in the lower jaw vs in the upper lip.

Sounds like everyone is on the edgy side here. Take it easy, maybe he has an OCD, or just wants his lure he paid good hard-earned cash for to work like it properly should, whether it matters or not. It has been stated, get the weighted hook for a sure thing, or try working it back into its correct position, case closed.

Hey lazer,
you still using the ribbit down there like last year? I got a handful of floaters and havent had much luck compared to the horny toad, I know they are almost identical in size, the ribbit seems light?

It may also be that yur throwing the frog on an open face reel if so try a swivel apout 18" from the hook that will stop line twisting and turnong frog over or try throwing it on a bait-caster, although the weighted hook is a great idea. I would think that would keep the frog from floating when paused. jmo.

Yes I still am. I have tried EVERY frog out there except the Gambler Cane Toad. Cant seem to find them locally. I DO NOY like the horney toad. Not enough leg action for me and way to quiet. I have found some hooks called frog hooks that are made by the folks that make the Sismic toad that are EXCELLANT. They have the hitchiker attachment and are the perfect size hook for the frogs. Hope this helps ya'll out. So far to date I have nailed 7 fish over 8lbs with the frohs and get this 5 of them have come in the hottest part of the day. Just a little heads up for those that dont fish them during the hot part of the day. Reason being is that during the hottest part of the day the heat positions the fish in the nastiest jungles and allows a fisherman to more easily target them.

I Have never used Zoom H-Toad, but I have the same problem with Yum Buzzfrog. I take a SplitShot or Bullshot and drill a hole at the bottom of the opening a little smaller than the dia. of the hook's shank. clamp it on and you'll be in business.

How in the world did I miss all the great responses. FlyRod that was great!

I guess my concern was the color choice. Most the time the frogs that I have picked up are multi color. I would prefer the bottom color to be shown to the fish below and not the opposite. Maybe that doesn't matter either?

I will try it on a weighted hook. I was thinking that someone would chime in and say start the hook slightly above the nose or something along that line but...

More questions answered. More brought up. I have used the ribbit frogs for a while now and have had success but, I am good at losing hooks. where do I find replacements with the corkscrew?

NO....NOOOOOOOO....NEAUX! NON! NEIN!

Using a swibble (JB's spelling again!) will only result in two more knots to fail or grab moss/algae. Worse yet, sooner or later you'll "shoot your eye out"...crank the swivel too close once too often and take out the tip guide. Besides, it would take so much twist to rotate the toad that you wouldn't be able to cast (spin rig) to begin with.
