Default Going to Guide

Hope someone that is a guide can help me out a bit.

I want to know what test you have to take to get a Guide's license?
Is there some study guide out there?

What are some of the other license, qualifications you need to have in order to start guiding?

Good luck with it! I want to be a Saltwater guide when I get out of college... I know it can be hard at times, but whata job.

Depends on what state you live in. In Texas, just buy a license, or that's what it used to be. In Okla., nothing is required that I'm aware of. Be careful though of turning your passion into a job and ruining it for you. Some passionate fishermen become guides and end up hatiing fishing because their passion becomes work. Others can't wait to get up every morning and go to work. Only you can answer what's right for you.

Default Guiding

Every state is different, as is county, and town. However a common theme is the Federal requirements which simply state, if the water is Federally navigable waters than you must have an OUPV. This includes any interstate lakes.

Check with your town for local licensing requirements, and your county, and then with your state for state requirements. At the very least you will need a business license from town and county.

For tons of info google OUPV reqirements.

Your city/town/county/state can answer any questions relevant to local business or sales tax, if any.

With this business the IRS applies the same rules as any other business. Bear in mind when dealing with the IRS that they have a pretty good handle on what any business does in any given area of the country. I know of several that no longer own a business, house, or much else, as the IRS has it all.
