Default 'tis the season?

What is the best lures, techniques, and colors, to use in the southern region of the U.S. (south texas in par.) I have been hearing alot of talk that it is too early to be using frogs, topwaters, etc...

Thanks,

i belive water temp and weed growth affects top water bites..i have caught just one bass on top this year so far. -on a popper-and she slurped it under.. the closer the weeds are to the surface the more the fish are prone to hit top water baits. i normally start thrownin top water after the spawn..right now the blade bite is massive so the topwater baits are not really being used..

Here in md ive been using my frog alot I was surprized to see it work ...the only reason I used it was cause I just bought it and never had caught a fish on a frog before ...but sure enough I tied it on and started dragin it over mats of hydrilla...next thing I know it was gone caught a few fish on it nothing big but still ...

Stevo, the water here is warm enough now to pretty much throw anything that strikes your fancy. A couple of weeks ago the spring peepers were a-peeping, and that is a good indication the water is warm enough to expand your lure selection.
