Present for an avid fisherman?
I would like to buy a present for my boyfriend's parents. They are including me in their family holiday to the Wisconsin Dells and I thought I should get them something. My boyfriend says that his dad would like anything fishing related. Thing is, I have never been fishing before so I don't have a clue as to what to get him! He is a keen fisherman and his whole house is pretty much fish themed. Any ideas?
Many thanks. |

PS. I'm looking to spend about $100, but I'm currently living in the UK! So online orders would be ok.
Thanks again. |

Give him a BPS gift certificate for 100 dollars and thatīs the best gift you can give him, he can spend it in whatever he wants.
I love my wife but I really prefer her to give me a gift certificate than she giving me something I most probably already own or giving me something I most probably wonīt ever use because the truth is, she doesnīt know anything about tackle. When we were dating once she gave me a Helicopter Lure kit as birthday present, needless to say that itīs still there gathering dust. Thatīs one gift I canīt afford to throw to the trash , ya know what I mean. |

It is hard shopping for someone for fishing tackle tacle when you don't know much about it, and it even is when you do because you don't know their presonal preferences.
I agree with Raul, the giftcard would make a great gift. Or, maybe (since you mentioned his house is pretty much fish themed) try get a couple of vintage lures off eBay for him to display or something. BB

I caught a 26lber on mine. What was that guy's name with the record again????
I think the vintage lures is an excellent idea. Find out what kink of fishing he likes. ( fly fishing trout, bass, salt water, etc.) let us know and I'm sure we can help you pick something out...... Oh and don't put your email online. You don't want Zook getting a hold of it! |

My helicopter lure is brand new, Iīve never used it. One day while I was organizing and dusting my stuff I took it and cleaned the box ( heck, it had a 3 inch thick layer of dust on it ) suddenly SHE WHO MUST BE OBEYED AT ALL COST appears behind me ( anybody remember I dream of Jeannie ? ) and ask why is it Iīve never fished with it ( which immediately raised a warning flag, ya know, answer it wrong and youīre in deeeeeeeeeeep trubble ! ), I calmly replied that since she gave it to me as a B-day present I really appreciated it and wanted to keep it in pristine condition ( fortunately she didnīt see the 3 inch layer of dust ).
No gentlemen, I have no moral hangover for BSing my wife the way I did, itīs called self preservation. Last edited by Raul; 06-12-08 at 01:32 PM. Reason: wrong spelling |

raul...i ran into the same sitiuation with mine. but i wasn't as quick witted as you my friend. yes i used it a long time ago. nuthin, but i still have them, in the boat no less. and now the little lady wants money since i haven't been using them in 5 years. so i gave a few to my partners here, which is ok, she says, at least they might be used now, lmao. so if anyone who recieved one, uses it, and catches a fish, please post a pic of the fish and lure, so she can royally get on my butt for not using them. hahahahahaaha

I've been using mine. I'm determined to catch a fish on it. I may go out now and try it since it's raining. Put it on a c-Rig and give it a go.

If you guys are up for a challenge I'm sure someone can catch a fish on one. The correct way to rig it ( as everyone knows ) is as a trailer on a rattle trap, and I know I can catch one like this. what do you say? first one to post a pic with the lure still in it's mouth?

Bo, you'll need to be more specific. The fish has to be caught on it, just just have it stuck into it's mouth. I'm up for the challenge.

Thanks guys!
I will go with the gift card idea then, thanks so much for the advice!
I looked up vintage lures and wasn't really sure what I was looking at. I think he's in to bass fishing (only because he's got the bass edition of monopoly) Blue gill? is that a fish? As to the e-mail, that was an accident on the part of the auto-fill on my computer. xx |
