Default Give me a break

A couple months ago this club that I'm associated with made a new rule that states that know one can fish on the tournament lake for 1 week prior to the event. I think I'll go fish with the FLW !

the one both me and him are in..thought it was a good idea -some of us WORK for a livin- makes everybody a tad more equal.. even the retired guy-not bassnman- thought it was a good idea..
flw is there have fun is all i got to say...

kh
this rule allows all the prefishin you want but the sunday night before the tournament-following saturday- there is no more fishing of THAT lake. this does 2 things #1 it does not sore mouth tourny fish.and#2 makes every one equal saturday morning..
#2 really matters little during warm temps where patterns last weeks to months. it matters ALOT in colder temps as patterns may only last 1-2 days..

i think personally bassnman is whining...he is better than most in the club and because he don't actually work-that i know of-can and does spend a butt load and a half of time prefishing..

I used to run into that in state level tournaments for the bass federation.
Seemed like crap to me, when they made a tournament in w. va. on the ohio river and you've never been on the body of water at all, plus it was way to far in my opinion to pre fish it a month in advance. I've seen guys get caught doing that, but its usually word of mouth that gets them, theres no way to monitor who is out there on the water when theres a ton of ramps to get on the body of water.
Guys that fish it regularly know the better spots to go to, where as the new guy has to figure it out, a real confidence killer.
I know their reasoning, they dont want any soremouthed fish , but lets get realistic, theres tons of other organizations (bass clubs) that hit that water every week.
My routine when allowed was to get the river on friday night and fish it till dark, fish all sat and then the tournie was sunday. Sure sometimes you did catch lots more on sat. but I think it gave me confidence in building on a pattern.
Of course many a angler has that predetermined "pattern" that worked so good in pre fishing and turned to crap the day of the tournie, its a mixed bag.
My hats off to all the forum guys that tournament fish..its a lot of pressure at times!
