How Far is the Cast?
I have been wondering if there is an easy way to find out how far you can cast with a specific reel. Only with the popular reels can I go to a review website like TackleTour and find out how many inches per handle turn. I usually just cast it, count how many handle turns I can get in, multiply the inches per handle turn by how many turns I got, and divide by 36. Thats how many yards.
Since the measurement won't be EXACT anyways, should I just assume that the spool size is as big as any other basic baitcaster and just do the math? Thanks. |

so your not askin how far you can cast. but how many inches are retrived in a full turn of the reel handle.. this depends on the spefic reel, the size of line, gearing, and a full reel of said line..
now the spool must be 1/8" of and inch from the rim to be counted as full.line comes in a bunch of differant diamaters -even the same pound test- the gearing ratio helps. best thing to do is pull out about 36" of line from the reel. measure it and using a sharpie mark it every inch. then trun the handle one complete rotation. then count the marks left hanging out of the reel subtract that from 36. there is your answer.. zooker
