Wink Swimbait setup......

I had another guy ask the "left"coaster about swimbaits. Im not a authority on them but YES I do throw them alot. Havent stuck a toad(over a 10) yet but prespwn will be here in next month or so....

My setup....I have a 7'6 Okuma Swimbait rod. It the Heavy(15-30lb 1-6oz baits) I have the Shimano Cardiff 300 with 25lb test. I have many baits in man sizes shapesand colors. They all depend on conditions and time of year. I have 3 Matt lures Baby Bass, 2 Matt lure Trout Patter(dark rainbow&hitch) 3 huddlestons(rof 0, 5, 12)ROF is Rate of Fall. 2 Castaic Platnums. 1 Osprey in hitch pattern MS Slammers and 1 4eyes(like the slammer). All of my baits for the most part are 8 inch models. I feel comfortable throwing this size for a few different reasons.

#1. I like 8inch first and foremost because it wont blow your arm and shoulders out.

#2. I have caught "smaller" fish(under 5lbs) on a big bait. I have caught a 1lber on a 8 inch Hudd. Of course you know the skies the limit on size of fish with swimbait.

#3 If you decide you want to throw swimbaits make sure you have the proper rod reel and most important line. Do you homework and findwhat makes YOU feel comfortable.

I know a couple of guys that are BIG fish hunter full time(no not Mike Long). Rob Belloni and Mat aka. SuperMat. These guys are machines when it comes to big bass. Rob has more fish over 10 than anyone in NorCal. Mat is working his way there as well. They can both be found here. www.calfishing.com Look under photos and their names are Swimbait and SuperMat. Also look at reviews and videos.

I hope this leads you in the right direction....If you have questions please post Ill do my best to help you "right" coasters out.
