A lake I never fished with a person who has never fished? Help lake wylie
ok. My dads work holds an annual tournament and me and my dad is entering it to spend sometime together. I am into fishing but got into after i moved out so we never fished together. The only fishing he has ever done was peer fish at the beach. also it is a lake wylie and i have never fished there before. Any advice on the lake and colors and baits to us. The high will be low 80s and lows in the low 50s. Tournament starts at 6 and goes till 3. Any advice would be great

On wylie I'd start looking shallow. Spinner bait and a dt 6-match the water color to the bait..Wylie bass like some odd plastic colors orange or blood red-metholite-.. The bass are heading for the beds. If your into runts in skinny water move off and try for the fat girls in 4-6 feet of water..

In your case, fish what you know, in his case just try teaching the basics and let him run with it.
When my parents were down here, I did that too. My dad has done plenty of fishing but it was always with worms and minnows, never artificial lures. He tried a few things and then caught a 11" bass on a small BPS XPS shallow crank. He had a few more bites on that and senkos but not much else was biting that day. |
