Thumbs up New Soft~Plastic RIG Trick for an Old Dog!

The old cliche' is, he knows it all and sometimes it bites me and it humbles me VERY Quickly.

The Saturday, the day before Easter I had a chance to fish with a young fella of 20 years young, I am twice his age and we pushed off in his Pelican boat and went bass fishing on his pond.

Tubes were his words for the day but at this Spring time of year here in VA, I like Spinner baits so, he outfished me in the first 1/2 hour 10 to 2 and I said, ok, Tube's "R" Us. I rigged a Strike King fire tiger (favorite) on a Gamagatsu with a 1/4 oz texas weight and he said don't glue the tube to the hook but just glue the bullet weight to the tubes head... it will work better if free to go up the line after catching a bass right? I said, yeah, right Kid! After letting my ego down and still seeing him fishing with the same tube for 45 minutes, I decided to give this a try. It worked and nicely.

Here's my new learning curve after explaining to fisherman with our glue for four years of Fishing shows. First off, if you are using a weighted hook that you insert into the tube, I still recommend adding a dab of our PRO's Soft~Bait Glue to the hook and it will instantly keep it snug on your hook fish after fish and won't run up your line. Now, when I rig with an EWG hook when texas or FL rigging I now glue the Lead, steel or tungsten to the head of my hollow tubes so it goes up the line and doesn't hang to the hook to tear it to shredds. Summary:: with glueing bullet weights to soft baits. When it goes up your line with the bullet weight glued to the soft bait, the bullet weight takes all the pressure of twirling around your line etc and not your plastic baits.

This proven method was even more evident after fishing for 7 hours each for largemouth with the same tubes and repairing them occassionally and reglueing the bullets back to the head of the baits. The fact is, the soft baits glued to the bullet weights gave us more hook ups because it looked, I think, all together as one bait. Not pegging with toothpicks and just glueing the two helped to NOT weaken lines and never retied once other than my Tree bass one cast. When the weights are glued to the baits it breaks free and goes up your line and out of the water and that is why there isn't friction on the baits to tear it or even lose it all together.

How much money did we save using only one bait each all day? Your guess is as good as mine depending on if you throw the real deals or the knock offs... But, I'll tell you one thing, with the price of crude raising plastic prices it was nice to see a large Plano box still full of my favorite Soft~Baits at the end of the day.

Have any similiar experiences with our products, I'd like to hear from you.

Another "why didn't I think of that" moment. Makes perfect sense. Thanks, Mike!

Outstanding. I throw a lot of tubes. I'm going to have to try that.
